Our Mission

Our main points of interest

Luis Falcón, president of GNU Solidario, founded the organization with one goal : To deliver  Health and Education with Free Software. Health and education are basis for development and dignity of societies.

These are just some of the activities and projects we do:

  • IWEEE : International Workshop on e-Health in Emerging Economies . IWEEE in a biannual conference held in Europe and Brazil that addresses health in the public sector, mainly in emerging economies.
  • GNU Health : The Free Health and Hospital Information System. GNU Health is award-winning HIS that has been declared an official GNU package by the Free Software Foundation. It's the system used and deployed by the United Nations University.

We work alongside multilateral organizations, like United Nations and its academic branch, the United Nations University (UNU).

GNU SOLIDARIO is an Non-for-profit organization that works globally, delivering health and education with free software. Since 2005 we have been involved in humanitarian projects of different nature that had one thing in common: Free Software

We firmly believe that Free Software systems that don't tie up the end-user with restrictive licenses make a big difference in the sustainability of the projects.

We focus on developing countries, rural areas and villages. We have already reached health centers, doctors, women, men and children from Nigeria, Ghana, Indonesia, or Argentina, to name a few.
